The more organized you are, the more scholarships you can apply to and increase your odds of winning. Let these three apps help you organize your application process and win that money!
There are tons of scholarships you're probably qualified for, but you got to be in to win it.
1. Evernote
If you're not up on Evernote, then download this app stat. Think of it as an online notebook. Their web extension allows you to clip from the web and save as a web page, link or .pdf and assign to notebooks. You can create several notebooks, i.e.scholarships, application parts (cut and paste the answer to common questions so it will save you time), recommendation letters, brag book (this section is a list of all your awards and honors), etc.
While you're surfing the 'net for scholarships, clip and save it to your notebook. Evernote has a reminder feature, you can set a date - I would recommend setting it a week to a few days before the deadline. You will get a notification reminding you about the scholarships from your calendar (I like Google's calendar). Evernote also has a to-do feature where you can create to-dos, ie follow up with teachers, get transcriptions, etc. Set reminders for those also. Works across all platforms, phone, tablet and desktop.
2. Sunrise Calendar
Now if you're visual person, you'll want to see your reminders and deadlines on your calendar. Download Sunrise Calendar. It integrates a variety of apps into your calendar (Evernote, To Doist, Eventbrite, Facebook and many others) so you can assign times (if you really want to micromanage things) to your to-dos and deadlines. Works across all platforms, phone, tablet and desktop.
3. Hemingway
Think of Hemingway as a spell-checker on steroids. This will help you as you write your essay answers. You can buy the desktop version for $6.99 or use the free web version. Some of the stats it checks are readability, use of adverbs (the less the better), passive voice and if a phrase has a simpler alternative.
These three apps should definitely aid in your quest to win scholarship money. Do you use other ones? If so, list them in the comments. Good luck!
